The Problem:

Leaves Institute, an online academy specialising in holistic therapies and philosophies from Japan, needed a cohesive brand identity that reflected its deep-rooted Japanese heritage and holistic focus. The founder, Yumiko Asakura, wanted to ensure that her life's work in jikochiyu (self-healing) was authentically represented to a global audience.

My Thoughts:

To create a brand identity that would resonate with both the Japanese origins of the institute and its international audience, I considered how to blend traditional Japanese aesthetics with a modern, digital-friendly design. The challenge was to create a brand that felt both authentic and accessible, capturing the essence of jikochiyu while appealing to a diverse range of learners.

The Solution:

I developed a brand identity that seamlessly merges Japanese cultural elements with a contemporary look, including a logo, digital assets, and a full set of brand guidelines. The design features calming, nature-inspired imagery, symbols reflecting the institute's holistic approach and key storytelling illustrations. The starter pack includes essential branding tools and digital icons that maintain consistency across platforms, ensuring that the Leaves Institute's message is clear and unified across all mediums.
